Luck Does Not Exist

Nothing happens by chance.  There is, however, a place that exists in time, where preparation meets opportunity; and the juxtaposition between the two yields favor on behalf of the one who is prepared to receive.  This place, this space in time, this moment, should be cherished because it is a blessing.  Collect these blessings, some clear, others vaguely recognizable, for at some point you will need to use them throughout your life in order to help you fulfill your purpose.

Full Grown Children

Life gives everyone several opportunities to learn, thus presenting them with the chance to become wiser; but fools seem to miss each time life presents them with such favorable circumstances.  As if on purpose, they seem to fail time and time again and never learn anything from their mistakes nor their successes.  Fools tend to go through life existing, but not living; and growing older, but not wiser.  It's unfortunate that there are several old fools, who can indistinguishably be as wise as a very young children.  While there are arguably many issues with these types of people, the most capricious characteristic they display is ignorance.  They fail to understand that wisdom is a composition of growth and knowledge.  As a result, they never tap into the place inside themselves where all that which has been learned resides, and knowledge starts to mature into wisdom.  Believing that the parallelism of age and wisdom exist is not being optimistic, it's being unaware of the truth that the two are very separate entities.

Bearing

I believe that everyday of your life you learn something new, or expand upon your understanding of something old.  This knowledge can come to you in any way shape or form; and through, or by-way-of, any medium or vessel.  Today while sitting in traffic, this truck pulled up beside me carrying a very heavy concrete load.  It was tied down by several yellow ropes and held up by a foundation made of small blocks of wood.  I was in awe.   Why was this image so captivating to me?  Why was I drawn to it like a Monet painting, or a Bernini sculpture.  Eventually it hit me, that in that moment I was seeing the visual to my very own existence.  The small wooden blocks were imperfect and probably individually useless, and when they were being cut they more than likely had no real purpose.  The small blocks were stacked and stacked and stacked.  And now they serve as a solid foundation having the ability to withstand what appears to be a load way to heavy to bear.

Be You

I'm not the type of person who keeps up with celebrity gossip, however I've recently been bombarded with a who's who divorce.  The person's marriage lasted 72 days, and everyone is saying all sorts of things; however, the thing that resonates the most is that the persons biggest claim to fame was a leaked sex tape. It's so unfortunate that you're only remembered for the things you did bad, wrong, or just all in all negative.  This made me began to wonder why? Why will this celebrity never be remembered for their huge donations to a charitable organization, but instead for a leaked love scene.  It makes you begin to wonder what then will you be remembered for?  This unfortunate incident has reinforced the truth that I've come to live by, and that's to truly strive to be your personal best.  People will deem you to be what they want, when and how they feel it necessary, but if you're not at peace with yourself then nothing else matters.

[T]o attain [your] place in the world, [you] must be [yourself], and not another.
